Magical moments

Matt and Vince have a special connection. One like no other. They are two peas in a pod. Best friends. Bonded together for life. The way they love each other, makes my heart melt. They spend hours together, playing, chatting, singing, sleeping, reading etc etc. Oh, and I wish you could hear the laughter, it’s the best!!! They both laugh from the very bottom of their tummies. I love these two so much it hurts. They are my number one, my favourite favourites, my reason for everything.

Here are some of my favourite father son moments:

And did I mention what an amazing husband and father Vince is. Like only the best ever! I am so blessed to have such a hardworking, loving, amazing man in my life. How did I get so lucky?

Monday Motivation

So… Monday is not my favourite, but I always try my best to make Monday good, or even great day. If Monday is good, then the rest of the week will be good. Start the week off strong and the momentum will keep you going. Keep a clear head and a positive attitude.

I keep my spirits up by listening to good music. A little Monday motivation music. This morning it was Mumford and Sons, Sigh No More. OH MY WORD! I’m obsessed with this song. I sang all the way to work, drumming on my steering wheel, feeling like this is going to be a great week.

Take a listen! Here is the link:

Mumford and Sons in one of my favourite bands. EVER. We went to Cape Town in 2016 to see them live and my golly gosh, they did not disappoint. The concert was absolutely amazing!!!!!!! No words could explain how brilliantly perfect this night was. Everything was just amazing, the weather, the people and, of course, the music.

A realisation

One thing I have come to realise is that in order to be real and transparent and relatable, I need to put myself out there. Like really out there. To be honest and to share my true feelings. I will not hold back just because I’m afraid of what people think.

I’ve been doing that for way too long. Only letting people close to me see who I really am. This blog is allowing me to express myself in my own way and to share my experiences, thoughts and adventures. I also get to voice my opinion on my own platform, in my own voice.

I have so much to share and my hope is to inspire at least one person reading this blog.

Remember, be real, be you. Don’t hold back.

Sneak peek

I’ve got something new and exciting up my sleeve and thought I would give you a quick sneak peek. Branding for my new range of craft products! How unbelievably exciting!!!!! Not only did I design the branding, but I have been working hard developing the products too.

I’ve done loads of research and product testing and I’m in the final stages. So far, it’s been very rewarding and I’m so eager to get my products out there. Vince has been helping me along the way and will be selling my products into retail within the next few months. I will put the full details along with product pics on the blog as soon as everything is a go. Watch this space 🙂

No more clutter

I am on a mission. A mission to get rid of all the clutter. At work, at home, basically everywhere. If I don’t need it, I get rid of it. Done and dusted. Live simply.

I have started sorting out all our wardrobes, one by one they are being unpacked and repacked. Anything we don’t need goes into the trash or the donate box. In the process, I have realised that I have a serious lack of storage boxes. I’ve been hunting for boxes that can be used for documents, my vast collection of crafty stuff and just any loose bits that tend to float around.

So, I eventually tracked down the perfect storage boxes. Simple, neat and user friendly. Exactly what I need! AND did I mention they come in a few different sizes! I’m totally obsessed. I found them on the Mr Price website. You will find them here.

They are actually gift boxes, but hey, they work and I love the fun pattern. Did I mention they are stackable too. Best storage boxes EVER! Imagine a black label with white text on the front of each box. Whoop! Whoop! The designer in me is doing a happy dance. I never thought organising could be so much fun. Who knew?!

Friday Favourites

Today I am sharing one of my favourite podcasts, Beautiful Anonymous. Beautiful stories from anonymous people.

“One phone call. One hour. No names. No holds barred. That’s the premise behind Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People, hosted by comedian Chris Gethard. Every week, Chris opens the phone line to one anonymous caller, and he can’t hang up first, no matter what. From shocking confessions and family secrets to philosophical discussions and shameless self-promotion, anything can and will happen!”

So many different stories from so many different people. Some sad, some happy , some absolutely unbelievable and some so incredibly inspirational. Click on the link below to have a listen. It is also available from iTunes.

Small changes make a difference

Every week I try to update something around the house. No matter how big or small the change is, it feels like I’m making progress. Also, change is good. Even moving a potted plant from one room to another can make a space feel different.

Last week I decided to spruce up the wall in our bathroom. It’s the wall right opposite the toilet. So if you’re sitting on the throne, this is the wall that you stare right into. Here is the before and after.

Excuse the ugly blue tiles. Yuck. A bathroom reno is definitely on our list!

The big family sign on the “after” wall is one of our Creative Living decor products. It fits beautifully in the space and adds some dimension to the wall. The other items are just things that I had around the house. The plan is to replace the two small dark box frames with something a little lighter. They are way too heavy for the space. I also need a little grey heart to fill the small gap under the family sign. I make cute moulded cement hearts that would fill the space perfectly.

All in all, it was a great way to update the bathroom. A small change can go a long way.

A snazzy new look

I am so very happy right now! Over the moon happy! Jumping out of my skin happy! My blog has a new look! I had a specific look in mind and worked hard to get to this point. I’m still on the fence about the colours. My usual colour choices always include muted neutral tones but I decided to go for a more contrasty feel this time. It’s definitely growing on me.

AND I managed to register my new domain and transfer all the info from my free wordpress blog to a new domain. It was a daunting task and I did’t think I would be able to do it, but to my surprise, I did it. All by myself! I’m super duper proud. I will write a blog post explaining the whole process. Believe me, its easier than it sounds.

Homecoming Celebration

This sweet story is about Matthew’s Homecoming Celebration. A very special celebration for us, as new parents, to the most precious little boy.

On January 7, our amazing friends, Rocky and Geoff threw Matthew a homecoming celebration. We had no idea this was happening and oh boy, were we surprised! When we arrived at Rocky and Geoff’s house, there were blue balloons and decorations everywhere. Very festive and fun. Vince and I thought we had forgotten someone’s birthday, it took us a while to catch on that the party was actually for us!

All our close friends were there and we were showered with gifts. We felt so special. Matthew was an angel of course. He loved helping us open his gifts and was all smiles. Its like he knew that everyone was there to celebrate him. The best part was that he got to meet ALL our special friends. We are so blessed.

Here are some photos taken by our talented photographer friend (you can view her work on her Facebook page

Friday Favourites

Yippee! It’s Friday. It’s been a hectically busy week so this makes my heart very happy. To celebrate this wonderful day, I’m sharing one of my favourite things. A small thing that makes a big difference.

Justine Tissue Oil. I have been suffering from incredibly dry skin and no amount of moisturiser seems to help. Since I’ve been using Justine Tissue Oil, my skin has improved drastically. I’m even using it on my face, yes, you heard me, oil on my face. But this is no ordinary oil, it soaks into your skin and leaves it feeling great.

I have also noticed a massive improvement in my complexion. The pigmentation on my forehead is fading and the general appearance of my skin is so much better. Yay! And the best part is, its really reasonably priced. Justine Tissue Oil is only available from a registered agent. Get googling if you want to find an agent near you 🙂

This is not a sponsored post. I just wanted to share my positive experience with a great product.
